Can I go to jail for spanking my child?

We are living in a day and time when there are a lot of questions surrounding what is the legal appropriate measure of discipline if I chose to spank my child. A lot of experts will tell you that you should never spank, don’t spank, without getting into what is appropriate discipline. Legally speaking, you are still allowed to spank your child in most states. I cannot think of one state, there may be some, but I’m not aware of any that it’s absolutely against the law to spank your child. But, as a rule of thumb to remember, is if you leave any type of mark. I don’t care where it is, I don’t care how little that mark is, if you leave any type of mark, that could be considered injury and could expose you to criminal charges. So if you do use corporal punishment when you punish your child, just do your very best not to strike them hard enough to leave any type of red mark or even bruise.
